About the Mentor and Mentees The mentor is an artist who has created a body of work reflecting the unique cultural identity of a community and the values of the David Foundation. As an artist, he/she will work with the mentee in a planning/conceptualizing stage of the artists’ work. The two-year Mentoring Program begins with an intensive summer in the community where mentees and mentors meet and connect, preparing for the two-year mentoring process. In total, ten students will be selected annually who will receive $10,000 each, over two years to allow them to realize their artistic visions. Mentee Criteria The program seeks students who are fully motivated to be actively involved in the program, thus in keeping with the David Foundation’s “relevance to the community” criteria. We seek qualified mentors who are available for 40 hours each week and who can commit to the program for two years.
